I Can Just Be Me

Image
I just recently heard this song and I fell in love with it! The world constantly tells me I need to be something I'm not. That I need to have a perfect complexion. Have perfect hair. Own the latest style of clothes. Act a certain way. Say certain things. Be up to date in the latest gossip. Be popular. Watch the TV shows that everyone rave about.  Do what the world does. Then I heard this song, and it was a wonderful reminder that my identity needs to be found in Christ. I can chase after this or that. Try and be someone I'm not. But at the end of the day, God is the only one who matters. He is forever.   "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever." Isaiah 40:8 "As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is

Strawberries

Image
So back in the month of strawberry picking we got a ton of strawberries that my mom and I cleaned. I think the best part about picking strawberries (besides eating them) is seeing the ones with weird shapes.  To some cleaning and cutting up strawberries may seem like a boring or unwanted job. But as I sat there at the kitchen table cutting up strawberries all I could think was, "How can I honor God even in this little task?"  No, I wasn't out giving food to the hungry. I wasn't out sharing the gospel. I wasn't translating the Bible into a different language. And I wasn't teaching Sunday school. Are these good and God honoring things? Yes! Should we do them? Absolutely. (Obviously God isn't calling everyone to Africa, or to teach Sunday school or whatever it may be. Everyone has something different that the Lord has given them to do)  But just because we aren't out there doing these "big things" for Christ do

But God

You know those words or sentences or things like that in the Bible that we hear so many times that when we read them it's just like, oh yeah, whatever. Have you ever really  thought about what it means to be dead in your trespasses and sins? And you he made alive, when you were dead through the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. Among these we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. Ephesians 2:1-3 And you, who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, Colossians 2:13 Trespass: Wrongful entry upon the lands of another. To commit a transgression or offense; transgress; offend; sin. Arrogantly step across the line.

The price is high

"The price is certainly high for people who don't know Christ and live in a world where Christians shrink back from self-denying faith and settle into self-indulging faith. While Christians choose to spend their lives fulfilling the American dream instead of giving their lives to proclaiming the kingdom of God, literally billions in need of the Gospel remain in the dark" -David Platt

Won't Let Me Go

O Love That Will Not Let me Go ~ Incredible Grace Music 1. O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee; I give thee back the life I owe, That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be. 2. O Light that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to thee; My heart restores it's borrowed ray, That in thy sunshine's blaze its day May brighter, fairer be. 3. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be. 4. O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee; I lay in dust life's glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be.

Missions..

I meant to do this sooner... But my brother, two of my friends and I went down to New Tribes Bible Institute for their "Prospective Student" weekend thing (we also went down to visit my sister Katie who goes there (: ) And I LOVED it! We got to sit in on classes and we played lots of baskeball and soccer, ate delicious food, met amazing people, but what I really liked the most was being surrounded by people of the same heart and mind (missions) not to say that everyone thinks and agrees on certain Biblical issues and stuff but just the passion there for unreached people is amazing! Here is a translation of an Amto Village letter asking for a missionary... "Yes, you people of the mission. Why are you being humbugs (big headed)? Do your stomachs have a good fashion? If your stomachs agree with us, then you will hear our cry and come quickly. Are you people true Christians? If you people are true Christians, you will hear our cry and come. We are very close to dying

Modesty

Who knew it would be so hard to find modest clothes? We have searched almost every store around and just about found nothing.  You can't just wear anything. So what did we do? My sister and I went to www.gap.com and ordered a bunch of small and mediums of the "Favorite Tee" (To make sure we got the right sizes) in the colors that I wanted, then I can return what doesn't work. Anyways....Back on track. :) This is gonna be for the girls... Modesty is not an option. It's a command. " 19  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20  for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 " 9  likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10  but with what is proper for women who profess godliness--with good works.&qu

Proverbs 21:2 "Every was of a man is right in his own eyes, but the L ORD weighs the heart." Only you and God know your motives, your heart. What you are really thinking. You can look like a good person, do good things, be a kind person. But you know the saying "you can't judge a book by it's cover". I know I really need to examine my heart. I can do the dishes because I have to and have a stinking attitude about it. Or I can be glad that we even have food to put on our dishes, and even be thankful for the pile of dishes! And it doesn't only apply to chores! It can be what you do around other people, what you say. I mean, it applies to a million things. Examine your heart. Why are you doing what you do? Saying what you say? Is what you are doing honoring God? Or are you trying to impress man? Proverbs 21:23 "He who keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble." This is a hard one! I like to talk. Many times I say things I d
